Roofing

Roofing is one of the hardest work someone can do.  Roofing Roof shingles wear out and need replacing about every 20 years.  Roofing equipment has changed over the years bringing a modern, durable, and cost reduction advantage.  Roofing shingles and roofing tiles were originally made of wood but now they are typically made of bitumen soaked paper covered with aggregate (asphalt shingle).  Roofing from metal can often be applied on top of an existing roof without removing the old roof.  Roofing shingles are generally thicker than historic hand split shingles and are usually left "undressed" with a rough, corrugated surface.  Roofing products such as tiles, slates, and steel roofing are the strongest roofing materials available.  Roofing materials are designed and manufactured to meet most industry specifications.  Roofing materials find many applications in constructions of commercial and industrial buildings.  Roofing materials can be used in a bay window, rolled dormer, turret or cupola, and vertical application.  Roofing and siding is fully trimmed at all exposed edges and connections.  Roofing is a relatively easy trade to get into with little or no experience, so choosing a roofing contractor  with the proper equipment, insurances, experience and skills is very important.  Replacing roofing and siding is expensive, so it's often a catastrophic event, like water dripping from the ceiling, that launches the project into motion.  Reroofing makes insulating under a shallow-pitched roof easy.  Depending on the application and environment, common roofing materials include sheet metal, asphalt, tile, and slate.  Metal roofing can bring a home beauty, durability, and reduced energy costs.  Metal roofing is more durable than asphalt tiles, lasting between 30-60 years with a lesser degree of disintegration and decomposition.  Steel roofing or slate roofing delivers a combination of extreme durability with design versatility and is maintenance free.  Other types of roofing materials are commonly available.  Steel roofing or slate roofing lasts a long time, is durable, very attractive, resistant to ice and snow, and does not age with exposure to sunlight or moisture.  Choosing the correct roofing supply material is important not only to contend with rough weather, but also to keep energy costs down, and to improve and accentuate the overall appeal of a building.  Steel roofing or slate roofing does not shrink, peel, or crack.  Steel roofing weighs less than traditional roofing material, extremely fire retardant, and is corrosive resistant.  Our work consists of New and old work installing Siding, Roofing, Gutters & Downspouts and all the extras.

Siding

There's nothing like new siding to dress up an old home.  Siding must be fastened with solid nailing at its ends--for example, where it butts against the side of vertical trim, such as window casings or corner boards.

Siding is the outer covering or cladding of a house meant to shed water and protect from the effects of weather.  Siding is also an important component of the design of your home.  Siding is usually sold by the square, which is 100 square feet, with price tags that range from $60 to $2400 plus.  Despite its importance, siding is often a neglected feature on many homes.  Look for signs of damage or decay. If your siding is cracked, rotted, dented, corroded, pitted, looks chalky or dull, or has water stains or moss growth, it may be time for new siding.  Metal siding is a good choice if you live in a climate with harsh winters, or an area that is prone to tornados.  However, exposed edges of steel siding tend to rust, so be sure to have trim pieces protecting edges (seamless steel siding is fit to the exact length of your house, eliminating seams that can rust and collect dirt and moisture).  Despite its durability, aluminum siding is susceptible to dents, which can be repaired, but it is easiest to just replace the damaged sections.  The cost of fiber cement siding is more than vinyl and less than stucco and wood siding, making it an affordable and durable product.  Like wood siding, fiber-cement siding is installed over studs or exterior wall sheathing with an appropriate weather-resistant barrier (WRB), using galvanized nails or screws that penetrate into wall studs.  Manufacturers emphasize that fiber-cement siding is appropriate for hot and humid climates because it is resistant to rot, fungus, and termite infestation.  Plywood sheet siding is sometimes used on inexpensive buildings, sometimes with grooves to imitate vertical shiplap siding.  Wood siding is very versatile in style and can be used on a wide variety of homes in any color palette desired.  Since plastic siding is a manufactured product, it may come in limited color choices.  Vinyl siding is sensitive to direct heat from grills, barbecues or other sources.  An environmental benefit of vinyl siding is that its production does not require the consumption of certain natural resources that other types of siding would require, such as trees, aluminum, or stone.  In addition to reducing energy consumption, insulated siding is a durable exterior product, designed to last more than 50 years, according to manufacturers.  Manufacturers report that insulated siding is permeable or “breathable,” allowing water vapor to escape, which can protect against rot, mold and mildew, and help maintain healthy indoor air quality.  Aluminum siding is ideal for homes in coastal areas (with lots of moisture and salt), since aluminum reacts with air to form aluminum oxide, an extremely hard coating that seals the aluminum surface from further degradation.  However, certain aluminum siding is highly susceptible to hail damage.
